Monday, January 26:

• Binder clean out
• Book room "field trip" - return The Odyssey and pick up Things Fall Apart
• New homework and bathroom passes
• Verbs pretest
• Fiction this week!

Tuesday, January 27:

• Warm-Up
• Notes:  Verbs
• Read "Dead Men's Path" (p. 1275) aloud as a class
• HW:  "Dead Men's Path" writing prompt due on Thursday

Wednesday, January 28:

• Warm-Up
• Work on writing prompt
• Background readings activity for Things Fall Apart (we will begin the novel in class on Thursday)
• Each group will read and summarize key points of an article concerning the Ibo people of Nigeria.  No one group will receive the same article.
• After reading and summarizing, each group will present its article to the class.  The other groups will take notes on the articles presented.

Thursday, January 29:

• Warm-Up
• Turn in writing prompt
• Begin reading Ch. 1-2 of Things Fall Apart aloud in class

Friday, January 30:

• Fiction Friday #1:
• Read your choice book.  Continue to do so even after you finish your reading log.  
• Complete your reading log: write one summary paragraph, one analytic paragraph, and one personal reaction paragraph.  Follow the directions on the handout given to you.  This is due at the end of the hour.
• HW:  Ch. 1-2 Writing Prompt due Monday
• HW:  Ch. 3 due Monday
