- Turn in and discuss writing prompt
- Background readings activity for Things Fall Apart (we will begin the novel in class on Thursday)
- Each group will read and summarize key points of an article concerning the Ibo people of Nigeria. No one group will receive the same article.
- After reading and summarizing, each group will present its article to the class. The other groups will take notes on the articles presented.
Wednesday, May 7:
- Warm-Up
- Trip to Salem book room to get Things Fall Apart (our next and last novel)
- Discuss reading schedule and literature circle roles for Things Fall Apart
- Picture slide show to go with the novel
Thursday, May 8:
- Warm-Up
- Begin reading Ch. 1-2 of Things Fall Apart aloud in class
- Subject-Verb Agreement Quiz next week Tuesday
Friday, May 9:
- Non-Fiction Friday #4:
- Write responses to the questions (listed on the handout) for your article (15 mins)
- Whole-class discussion on a chosen student's article. You must speak at least once in order to receive full credit for the discussion portion of your grade.
